HISTORY of
Sam Giammalvo's
Sam Giammalvo's Auto Sales
& Service Inc. is a family owned business established in 1960 by
Sam Giammalvo. As an automotive technician and then, later, auto salesman,
Sam recognized the need for a professional, reliable, and above all, reputable,
expert in the automotive sales and service industry.
Sam originally started in a smaller sales only facility.
Numerous expansions have taken place over the years, and as of this writing,
he now offers the largest selection of late model automobiles in the area.
In addition, his service facility has taken giant leaps in size, technology,
and most important, customer satisfaction.
The service department is constantly purchasing the latest
modern automotive diagnostic equipment, such as, Alldata's Automotive Diagnostic
Repair Database which accesses the latest daily technical communications from
all automotive manufactures throughout the country. They also own the hand
held "Snap-on Scanner" which allows technicians to record critical data from
a vehicles onboard computer system while driving, and then, back at the dealership,
the technician can feed that recorded data into a large computer system for
analysis.
In the late 1970's Sam's son Glenn joined the company
as an automotive reconditioner, and then worked as an automotive technician.
Glenn is currently the shop's Service Manager. Glenn holds a degree in Automotive
Science from Franklin Institute of Boston. He is also a Certified Master
Automotive Technician and Advanced Level Certified (L1) by the National Institute
of Automotive Service Excellence.
In the mid 1980's Sam's youngest son Mark, joined the
company as an automotive reconditioner. He now specializes in a wide range of duties from driveability
diagnostics to design of our newsletter, web site, and management of our
employee health care and retirement plans. Mark,
who has been with the business for over 20 years,
is a Certified ASE Master Technician and Parts Specialist. He also holds
the L1 certification, and has an associates degree in
business management from Bristol Community College. Mark
is also the past secretary of the Alliance of Automotive
Service Professionals of Massachusetts, (AASP-MI).
Mark and Glenn are also both contributing writers for Motor
Age Magazine and have written for various other industry publications.
Today the entire facility provides employment for over twenty
families.
